Fairly simple formula here…pair of elite offensive play callers with more offensive weaponry than the opposing defenses can handle. For Jacksonville their upgrade in the receiving is significant as they now have a trio of game breaking threats. The new duo of ex-Buffalo big play receiver Gabe Davis plus the 1st round draft selection of ex-LSU standout Brian Thomas give them a pair of tall rangy threats to combine with 2nd year Jaguar Christian Kirk. Emergence of RB Trevor Etienne gives Jacksonville balance necessary to keep Miami defense off balance. Additional problem for the Dolphins is defensive injuries to key players that are continuing to heal making Week #1 a time where they’re somewhat vulnerable. Dolphins offense has speed that’s imposing and difficult to deal with. Jaguars defense is no slouch but asking for constant pressure & disruption every possession doesn’t seem feasible unless you’re the 1985 Chicago Bears. Non divisional game between teams that did not meet last season so 2nd year Miami HC Mike McDaniel’s playbook should cause Jacksonville some headaches and confusion. Abundance of big play & scoring options here and early season numbers aren’t asking to exceed the extra 2.5-6.5 points they’ll be requesting from bettors a couple weeks from now. Good time to take advantage.
