Let’s face it, neither of these teams was going to go point scoring wild at Alabama or at Mississippi respectively. They each did punch back with 31 & 32 points respectively in their only other game which featured outclassed FCS teams. Here the temperature is just right for veteran QB’s T.J. Finley (Western Kentucky) & Nicholas Vatitato to successfully guide their teams to yardage & scoreboard productive days. Neither defense is shut down and in fact MTSU’s was ravaged by the transfer portal placing them in a non-cohesive state right now. The pass defense is ripe for picking here having allowed 397 to Ole Miss & 274 to Tennessee Tech. Finley now in his 3rd game directing the Hilltoppers offense appears to be getting comfortable and confident after 351 yard performance in step down vs. Eastern Kentucky. Ground game not much help to either but run defenses allowing 5.2 & 6.0 could be perfect elixir and balance creators. Somewhat low total by CFB standards indicative of current results but those are extremely skewed and view this as a matchup headed more toward a final score tallying 59 than 54.
