Analysis

The Mystics are coming off a loss to the Lynx, but they've been playing solid basketball since the Olympic break, particularly on the defensive end. The return of Brittney Sykes and Shakira Austin has bolstered their defense, although Austin is ruled out for tomorrow's game. However, they have Dolson and Edwards who can step up and play heavy minutes up front.

Offensively, the Mystics have been one of the more efficient shooting teams in the league. However, they struggle with turnovers, rarely get to the free-throw line, and are weak in the rebounding department. The good news for them is that the Sky don’t force a lot of turnovers and tend to send opponents to the free-throw line at a high rate. With Angel Reese out for the season, the Mystics should also have more opportunities on the boards, plus the Sky's offensive rating drops significantly from 99.7 to 88.7 without Reese, who was key in creating extra chances for her team.

The Sky are coming off a win over the Dallas Wings, but it's important to note that the Wings' defense has been very poor. Interestingly, that was the first game without Angel Reese after she announced she was done for the season. Often in the NBA, we see role players step up big in the first game after a key player's absence, only to regress significantly in the second game. This trend has translated over into the WNBA and this is that second game, and I think the Sky will struggle against the Mystics' defense.

From a trends perspective, the Mystics have been a strong first-half play throughout this season. They are 24-9-2 ATS in the first half, including an impressive 14-3-1 ATS in first halves on the road.

For plays, I'm splitting the action between the Mystics in the first half, full game.
