Analysis

3% Rotation #454: NFL Friday 3% Philadelphia Eagles Money Line -130 vs Green Bay Packers @ 8:20 ET in Sao Paulo, Brazil - The Packers started the season 3-6 last year while the Eagles started the season 10-1. Then, Philadelphia collapsed from that point forward while Green Bay hit their stride and even won a playoff game while Philly got trounced in the playoffs. That said, why are the Eagles favored in a neutral site game? Have the odds maker lost their mind? Of course not! The fact is that this is a strong sign of what to expect (even the odds makers are expecting) from a very determined Eagles team that got punched in the face to close out last season week after week including in the playoffs. This Philly team comes in very hungry and with a chip on their shoulders. The line is basically a solid -2 on this one, some -2.5 out there, as of very early Thursday morning (3 AM ET) but on the -2 the juice is as high as -120. That said, for me the best value at this time is on the money line for just a slightly higher price of -130 and this will lock in that any Eagles win is also a win at the betting window. As for the “nuts and bolts” of this match-up, Saquon Barkley is a huge add for the Eagles and bolsters their ground game. The Packers, even with that great finish last season, still have a very ugly record against non-divisional foes in games away from Green Bay. In those games against non-NFC North teams played away from Wisconsin last season, the Packers were an ugly 1-5 SU with the only win being late in the season at Carolina against a Panthers team that ended up a horrible 2-15. The Eagles, on the other hand, went a fantastic 4-2 SU in non-divisional road games and the final loss in that was a gut-wrenching loss in the final 30 seconds at Seattle. That was a game in which Jalen Hurts played through illness as well. The point of those above road stats is that the Eagles have traveled better than the Packers for non-divisional games and this is a special one in Brazil in which the Eagles are ultra hungry to prove that they are back and can recover from last year's collapse. Keep in mind GB has a new DC and their defense was worse than it looks last year as 12 of their games were against teams that ended up ranked in the bottom half of the league for overall offense. Hafley, former Boston College head coach, is the new Green Bay DC and likes to be aggressive on D with stunts and blitzes. The Eagles and QB Hurts have struggled against blitzes. However, new OC Kellen Moore had the Cowboys playing great against blitzes as QB Dak Prescott had fantastic numbers against blitzes. So what is interesting to note here is that this could actually be the ideal match-up for the Eagles to get their offense humming right out of the gate! Look for that to be precisely the case. Lay it! 3% PHILADELPHIA -130
