Analysis

4% Rotation #389: CFB Saturday 4% OVER 66.5 -108 in Washington State Cougars vs Texas Tech Red Raiders @ 10 ET - Both teams off very high-scoring wins last week and this one absolutely shapes up to be one of those games where the last team with the ball wins. Just a back-and-forth high-scoring shootout all the way when the facts are considered here. Keep in mind, Texas Tech just allowed 45 points (in regulation) to Abilene Christian! The Red Raiders barely snuck out the 52-51 win in OT and, though the offense looked solid (as it so often has in Lubbock!) the defense was dreadful (as it so often is!) and they allowed an unreal 615 yards to the Wildcats! The Red Raiders did throw for almost 400 yards but also allowed over 500 yards passing and you can bet the Cougars watched plenty of film to see how to dissect a struggling defense. Washington State is off a win in which they scored 70 points and yes one could argue they were facing a weak team and were not tough on defense but Portland State did not just score 30 points in the meaningless latter stages, the Vikings scored at least 6 points in all 4 quarters of the game. Portland St had 449 yards of offense but Washington State did total more than 600 yards. That said, both the Cougars and Red Raiders are coming off wins yet allowed tons of yardage and points. I love set-ups like this to create another over in the very next game! Both defenses “got away with it” as their team still won the game and even if they did try to shore some things up this week, the level of offensive talent they are facing this week is so much stronger than what they faced last week. The result is plenty of points here as both offenses should move the ball well throughout this game! Very warm weather in Pullman for this one and it will be light winds and no precipitation this evening so both offenses can function with the full playbook in this one as well. Washington State scored 46 ppg in their first 4 games last season and they appear poised for another hot start this season. They do have rival Washington on deck but they won't look past their first 2024 game that features an FBS opponent. Texas Tech averaged 34.5 ppg in their 4 games (including bowl) that were outside of conference action. What we saw last week from both these offenses and both these defenses is not going to suddenly change in one week's time! 4% OVER 66.5 in Washington State
