Analysis

4% Rotation #394: CFB Saturday 4% San Diego State Aztecs +6 vs Oregon State Beavers @ 10:30 ET - This line opened up right around a field goal and is all the way up to 6 points as of gameday morning (9:30 AM ET) on Saturday! Places like BetOnline and BetMGM currently have this line at 6 and at other books like DraftKings for example the alternate spread offers an option of +6 -120. I look for San Diego State to spring the upset here but will grab the points just in case they fall short of that. They are offering excellent value as a home dog here. Yes, they are installing a new offense this season but they worked out the kinks in a bad first half last week versus Texas A & M Commerce and then exploded for 4 TDs on offense in the 2nd half of that big win. They hold a big experience edge over Oregon State as the Beavers rank as one of the least experienced teams in the nation. Both teams have new head coaches and now the Beavers are on the road for the first time. Keep in mind they went only 2-8 ATS the last 10 times they have been a road favorite. OSU not known for traveling well and now they face a San Diego State team hell bent on a turnaround this season. While the Aztecs gained almost as many yards as the Beavers did last week, note also that SDG St allowed only 180 yards of offense while Oregon State allowed over 300 to Idaho State in their 38-15 win. SDG St was down 6-3 at the half last week but then outscored the Lions by a count of 42 to 8 in the 2nd half! I also like the fact the Beavers got most of their yardage on the ground last week and the Aztecs were very tough against the run last week. Oregon State D allowed 5 ypc last week while the Aztecs allowed only 2 ypc. Also, SDG St threw for 214 last week while Oregon State had only 148 yards passing last week. Remember that Oregon State was once 8-2 last season but then they lost their last 2 games plus got rolled in their bowl game against Notre Dame. This Beavers team is MUCH different from the team that was once 8-2 last season. Also, the Beavers do have rival Oregon on deck for next week. Conversely, San Diego State is on an uptick and ready to bounce back after a disappointing 4-8 season. Last year the line on this game in Corvallis was 24 and now it opened only at 3 in this rematch taking place in San Diego. Don't let the line fool you and yet…it seems many in the market have been fooled saying “how can this be?” and they have driven this line all the way up to a 6! I'll take it! 4% SAN DIEGO STATE +6
