Analysis

3% Rotation #292: NFL Monday 3% Philadelphia Eagles -5.5 vs Atlanta Falcons @ 8:15 ET - With star WR AJ Brown out, this line has come back down. It opened at 3.5 and shot up to even as a high as a 7 in some spots and then settled in at 6. Now, as of 5:55 AM ET on gameday the dominant number is 5.5 and I do realize it could move even lower. However, in the interest of line shopping time for all my followers, I want to get this pick posted now. Yes, Brown is out but Jahan Dotson will make contributions here along with star WR DeVonta Smith and TE Dallas Goedert. Also, RB Saquon Barkley already showed in the win over the Packers that he could prove to have been a massive acquisition for the Eagles! He played his HS ball in the Philly area plus went to Penn State and he appears to be very happy having come back home after many huge seasons with the NY Giants. About that win over the Packers, that is a solid Green Bay team. I used the Packers money line as a home dog yesterday to the Colts and the Pack got the win even without the injured QB Jordan Love. Note that Love did play almost the entire game in Brazil against the Eagles and Philly prevailed. The point is that the GB team that Philly beat last week is a very talented team when healthy. The Falcons lost to Pittsburgh last week and the Steelers offense is nowhere near as potent as the Eagles offense is -  even when AJ Brown is not on the field. My point is that this Falcons team is over-rated right now. I know they made some offseason changes and should be improved this season but QB Cousins did not look great in the pocket last week and is not very mobile. Also, lets not forget we are talking about an Atlanta team that went 2-7 on the road last season and also went just 1-5 against non-divisional NFC opponents! This line is essentially saying, when you consider the standard -3 home field edge, that the Eagles would only be -2.5 against the Falcons on a neutral field! Keep in mind the Eagles just played Green Bay on a neutral field and the line was in that 2.5 range! Atlanta is NOT as strong as the Packers when Jordan Love is at QB. No way! That is why, even though the Eagles are without AJ Brown here, they are still a bargain in this line range and plus lets not forget the Falcons are without a starting linebacker for this one too. Look for the Eagles to wear down the Falcons as this game goes along and pull away for a solid victory at home. Atlanta should show improvement as the season goes on as they made some good changes coming into this season. However, the Falcons are going to have some early season growing pains. They showed that already last week when they did absolutely NOTHING in the 2nd half of the game AT HOME after the Steelers made adjustments at halftime. You can bet the Eagles took notes on this as well! Philly will be ready here. Lay it! 3% PHILADELPHIA -5.5
