The Blue Jays are 1-6 in their last seven games, every loss during that span coming by one or two runs. They are 3-9 in their last dozen games without a loss by more than three runs during that span; one unbelievably frustrating loss after the next.  This team was supposed to compete this year; instead they’re playing out the string….and it shows.

Toronto has scored three runs or less nine times in those last twelve games.  Last night, they lost on a game tying wild pitch followed by a game losing passed ball; a team that is quite literally finding ways to lose; a ‘dead’ team here in September.  Embattled Blue Jays manager John Schneider: “We talked about it yesterday, today, you're playing teams like this that are fighting for every single thing, you've got to play clean. That's two nights in a row we did not."

In sharp contrast to Toronto, the Mets are surging once again; 10-1 in their last eleven games.  They’re 6-0 in David Peterson’s last six starts; Peterson has allowed only eight runs in that entire span.  Peterson struck out 11 Red Sox in his last outing and still didn’t even reach 90 pitches!  Meanwhile, Blue Jays starter Chris Bassitt has been hammered by the A’s, Angels and Phillies in his last three home starts: 15 runs allowed in 15.1 innings of work.  The Jays are just 4-12 in his last 16 starts, primed for another loss tonight.  Take the Mets.
