Cleveland is going with a modified bullpen game today, and there's probably no better team in baseball with that strategy than the Guardians right now. Cleveland's bullpen only threw 27 pitches on Sunday in Milwaukee and the Guardians had off on Monday, so everyone should be rested and ready for the start of this series in the Bronx. Matthew Boyd will be making his second start after returning from Tommy John surgery. He was very impressive in his debut against the Cubs last week, but he won't be asked to do too much on Tuesday with a fully-rested bullpen behind him. Luis Gil has really struggled with his command lately, and the Guardians' lineup is very patient. Gil has allowed ten walks in his last 14.1 innings, and he enters Tuesday in the bottom-tenth percentile among pitchers in walk rate this season. Cleveland's lineup is top-six in whiff rate, chase contact rate and strikeout rate. Cleveland's defense leads the league in defensive runs saved this season. We've got the better defense and the better bullpen with a lineup that can frustrate the opposing starting pitcher. That's the makeup of a team that we will gladly grab a +130 price with.
