The Gold Sheet
(911) Cleveland Guardians at (912) New York Yankees
We got to the cashier's window yesterday on the Guardians (+130) in extra innings, but Wednesday's contest looks a lot different. Luis Gil was only able to complete 3.0 innings on Tuesday, leaving the Yankee relievers to throw 171 pitches. New York used every reliever in their bullpen, and six of them threw 15+ pitches. Unless the Yankees make some pregame roster moves, any reliever that comes into today's game will be working the second leg of a back-to-back. It's not rainbows-and-butterflies on the Guardians' side either, as key relievers Hunter Gaddis, Emmanuel Clase and Scott Barlow each threw 20+ pitches. Since the All-Star break, Nestor Cortes has a 6.58 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. Earlier this season, the Guardians tagged Cortes for four runs on five hits with two home runs in 4.0 innings. Ballpark Pal's model puts this game at 9.5 runs, and we are in agreement.
