Analysis

We certainly recognize that playing an under in a Tennessee game is a scary proposition, but what have you seen from Oklahoma's offense thus far to suggest that the Sooners are capable of making a meaningful contribution to the final score? Under the guidance of Sooners' head coach Brent Venables, Oklahoma's defense looks fantastic. But on the offensive side of the ball, Jackson Arnold and the Sooners' offense have not gotten anything going. We were on Oklahoma in Week 1 against Temple, and that was one of the more unimpressive 51-point performances you'll ever see. Oklahoma's offense was the beneficiary of SIX Temple turnovers and still only generated 378 total yards and 18 first downs. Deion Burks is one of the best receivers in the country, but Arnold has not been able to build chemistry with anyone else. Oklahoma's offense is No. 94 in the country in EPA/play and No. 116 in success rate. When Arnold drops back to pass, the Sooners are No. 111 in EPA/pass and No. 116 in success rate. And that's against a first-year head coach in Houston, a first-year head coach in Tulane and one of the worst teams in the country in Temple. Tennessee's Nico Iamaleava has looked tremendous, but this will be the first road start of his career. Oklahoma knows that it can't go score-for-score against this Tennessee offense, and Coach Venables will be doing everything he can to slow this game down and make it ugly.
