Analysis

If you took the names off their jerseys and just looked at the numbers, would this total still be in the mid-40s? The Ravens and Bills have been known for dominant defense in recent seasons, but this is a new era for both teams. The Ravens' former defensive coordinator is now in Seattle. Nearly every key defensive piece from Buffalo's playoff teams is either injured or playing with another team. If you strip away the team names and focus on the numbers from this season, this total should be higher in our opinion. After last week's closer-than-it-should-have-been win over the Cowboys, Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was openly critical of Baltimore's coaching staff and said they needed to step on the gas to put that game away. Buffalo is coming off a 37-point thrashing of Jacksonville, generating 6.5 yards per play with 25 first downs and no turnovers. Josh Allen leads the NFL in quarterback EPA/play this season after going 23-of-30 with 263 passing yards and four touchdowns last week against the Jaguars. The Bills' defense still has some major concerns, but the Dolphins (without Tua Tagovailoa) and Jaguars (falling apart) were unable to capitalize on those holes. Baltimore's offense certainly looks capable of putting that unit to the test. Dating back to last season, the over is 10-5-1 in Baltimore's last 16 games. The over is 6-2 in Buffalo's last eight games.
