The Gold Sheet
(919) Arizona Diamondbacks at (920) Boston Red Sox
Ketel Marte's absence is keeping this at a modest number, but we're still interested in backing Arizona on Friday night at Fenway. Since the All-Star Break, the Diamondbacks are hitting .279 (T-2 in MLB) with a .354 on-base percentage (2nd), a .501 slugging percentage (1st) and a .855 OPS (1st). Brayan Bello has pitched better in recent weeks, but he's issued three walks in each of his last three outings. Bello enters Friday in the bottom-25th percentile among pitchers in expected ERA, expected batting average allowed and hard-hit rate. Since the All-Star break, Boston's bullpen has been bottom-5 in baseball in most key metrics. The Red Sox defense is No. 25 in outs above average this season. Whether it be through traditional hits, walks against Bello or stolen base opportunities, Arizona should have plenty of run-scoring chances on Friday night at Fenway.
