The Gold Sheet
(971) Atlanta Braves at (972) Minnesota Twins
A line of thunderstorms is expected to hit the Twin Cities in the second half of this game, so we're going to focus on the first five innings with two starting pitchers that are a little vulnerable. Atlanta's Max Fried enters Monday in the bottom-half of pitchers in expected batting average allowed, chase rate, whiff rate, strikeout rate and walk rate. Since the All-Star break, Fried has a 6.10 ERA with a 1.55 WHIP. Fried has allowed 3+ walks in four of his last five starts. It's a small sample size, but a handful of Braves have great numbers against Minnesota's Bailey Ober. Whit Merrifield is 4-for-10 with a double and triple. Gio Urshela is 3-for-5. Adam Duvall is 1-for-3 with a home run. Ballpark Pal's model projects 4.96 runs in the first five innings, and we are in agreement. A total of 4 (-110) is a tick too low.
