Tyler Phillips was brought back up as the Phillies finally sent Taijuan Walker to the bullpen. He was pounded in his last three starts before the demotion. Allowing 17 earned runs in just 11 innings of work. Two of the three teams he faced were the Marlins and Mariners, two of the worst lineups in baseball.
Chris Bassitt takes the hill for the host. He is having a down season with a 4.27 ERA and 1.40 WHIP. But in his ten years in the show he owns a career 3.60 ERA and 1.22 WHIP. In his last five starts he has faced the likes of the Orioles twice, A’s, Cubs and Red Sox. So he won’t be intimidated by this Philadelphia lineup.
This is a fair line for the veteran Jays starter, as we expect a good hitting day for the host.
