(473) Washington Commanders at (474) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jayden Daniels looked like he was transitioning well through the preseason reps he took, but Washington is live when they head to Tampa for a variety of reasons. Daniels’ pure athleticism, dual-threat capability, and accuracy gives OC Kliff Kingsbury multiple options to attack the Bucs’ defense. The Commanders had offensive line issues a season ago, but Kingsbury historically has thrown a lot of short passes and screens. Not only does that give Daniels the ability to get the ball out quickly, but he’s also a major threat with the deep ball if the defense gets overly ambitious. Dan Quinn takes over as the head man in charge. He’s a defensive minded coach, so expect improvement on that side of the ball. I also expect regression this season out of Tampa. It’s not that they’re a bad team, but more like their ceiling is capped. The Bucs only averaged 21.2 points per game last season and asking them to lay over a field goal here is a lot, especially against a Washington team that may be the best version we’ve seen in quite some time. Take the Commanders.
