(965) Tampa Bay Rays at (966) Philadelphia Phillies
The Phillies and Rays meet at Citizens Bank Park. We get a plus starter at home in Cristopher Sanchez. He's 7-3 at home with 2 complete games. His ERA is 2.24 and his WHIP is 1.07 at home. The Rays are bad against lefties on the road. They are bottom five in runs scored and home runs hit against lefties at home this season and since August 1st. Sanchez keeps the ball in the ballpark, so he should be able to handle Tampa's lineup. The Phillies bats will face Cole Susler, who is making just his second start this season after being traded from the Mets. It's a small sample size, but he has a 6.00 ERA on the road. The Phillies offense is top 7 in batting average, OPS and wRC+ at home this season. They've also scored the 3rd most runs and hit the 5th most home runs. If Philly doesn't get on top of Susler early, then they don't deserve to win. The Rays are likely going with a bullpen game anyway. But their bats should be good enough.
