Rhett Lowder is a highly touted prospect for the Reds who has gotten off to a nice start. A 0.87 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. It’s been even more impressive as he faced the potent bats of the Brewers and Astros. But digging deeper we see that he has been a bit fortunate. His fastball velocity is in the 34th percentile, with a 20th percentile in extension. He hasn’t pitched enough innings to grade the rest of his advanced stats, but let’s just say they are not looking good. 

Andre Pallante in three seasons owns a 3.89 ERA and 1.43 WHIP. He is in the 98th percentile in ground ball rate, 96th percentile in barrel rate, and 78th percentile in average exit velocity. His last start was against the Brewers, who lit him up for five earned runs in five innings. That said, he has been excellent this season after a bad game. After allowing four earned runs or more, he has permitted only two earned runs combined in 23 innings.
