Analysis

The NFL Players Association releases a report card on every organization every year. Players are asked to comment on everything from the cafeteria to the weight room to the team's travel arrangements to how well their families are treated on gameday. Entering this season, the Bengals ranked in the bottom-quartile among all teams in family relations (last), food (last), nutrition support (last), locker room amenities and ownership. Mike Brown's frugal ways drew a lot of criticism over the offseason, and it certainly looks like that unhappiness is spilling onto the field. Wide receiver Tee Higgins missed the Bengals' Week 1 loss to New England, and Ja'Marr Chase certainly didn't look thrilled to take the field after missing the entire preseason while searching for a new contract. Who Dey fans were expecting to see a fully-healthy version of Joe Burrow this season, but it looks like he's still battling through some issues that limited him last season. Star running back Joe Mixon is no longer with the team, and the Bengals' rushing attack produced 70 yards against the Patriots in Week 1. Kansas City has extra time to prepare for this one after taking care of Baltimore on Thursday night to open the season. You probably know how good Andy Reid is with extra time to prepare. We don't want to overreact to a one-game sample size, but Cincinnati could be in for some trouble. In addition to that Week 1 home loss to the Patriots, Cincinnati went 0-3 in the preseason and was out-scored 71-31 in those games. Until we see some signs that Burrow and Co. are all on the same page, we're comfortable laying this number under a touchdown. At the time of posting, Kansas City -5.5 is available at SuperBook, Bovada, DraftKings and FanDuel.
