The Golden Knights really haven’t played anyone thus far, New Hampshire and Sam Houston State. And that keeps the hype machine down a bit when they take on league rival TCU. Gus Malzahn is now in his fourth season in Orlando. His club struggled out of the conference gate last year, but improved as the season unfolded, winning 3 of 4 league games to end the season. Despite the weak competition thus far, they have doubled the yards per play of the opposition. We really like this club on both sides of the line, and feel they could really challenge this year in the Big 12.
TCU is a team that reached unbelievable heights in 2022, but regressed to a more realistic level a season ago. They may never get back to the level they were two years ago, but the Horned Frogs are still a solid team. While we expect them to be better on paper, the schedule is very tough. TCU dropped 6 of 8 to end last season, we expect a small bounce back. That said, UCF is clearly the more talented team here. There is a reason the road team is now favored.
