Analysis

4%  (136) FLORIDA +4

Both teams enter today’s game at 1-1. Both teams lost their openers in high-profile games, as Texas A&M lost to Notre Dame and Florida lost to Miami. Florida lost their QB in the loss to Miami, but honestly, Graham Mertz wasn’t impressive prior to leaving the game. Freshman QB DJ Lagway took over in the Miami game, but it was already out of reach, and he wasn’t prepared to play. He did play last week with a full week of practice as the starter and a game plan geared toward him. Granted, it was against Samford, but he put up huge numbers, going 18 of 25 for 456 yards and 3 touchdowns, with no interceptions. It was the perfect game to get his feet wet and take over as the team’s starter. Texas A&M was able to bounce back at home against McNeese State with a 52-10 win, but just like Florida, they played an overmatched opponent. Texas A&M struggled to move the ball against Notre Dame in the opener, and I believe the same will happen here. Note that Texas A&M is 0-8 straight up in their last 8 road games on grass fields. In what I think will be a low-scoring game, I’m taking the points: Florida 23-17.
