Oklahoma had a major scare last week as they almost lost to Houston. Oklahoma, as a 30-point favorite, only won 16-12. I like taking good teams the week after they have had a major scare, as you will always get their best effort that week, and you will also get line value, as the market will usually overreact to the close game. Tulane comes in here off of a very good-looking close loss to Kansas State. I believe Kansas State got caught looking ahead to their national TV game on Friday night against Arizona. So, while on paper Tulane only losing by 7 and getting 10 looks great, especially after how good Kansas State looked last night in their 31-7 blowout win, here is the problem: when big dogs give a big effort and come up short, often they are flat the next week. Tulane blew a 10-point lead in that game last week. Oklahoma has Tennessee up next, and normally I would be concerned about that if they were coming off a blowout win. But after almost losing last week, you will get Oklahoma’s best effort here. OKLAHOMA 35-14.
