Analysis

Amazingly after a dreadful start to the weekend it's still all right there for the taking for the Mets.

At worst, if the Mets win today they guarantee themselves the ability to create a “winner take all” scenario with the Braves during tomorrow's doubleheader.

I haven't at all been inspired by the play from the Mets the past two days but I do think the Mets find themselves in a better situation with the ability to generate some offense here.

Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy came on the broadcast last night and basically said what he was going to do with his pitching.  Murphy said he would use Joel Payamps and Devin Williams pretty much no matter what and that's exactly what he did bringing in Payamps in the 6th and giving Williams the 9th in a non save situation.

He also said none of those guys would pitch back to back days so I think you can rule out Williams, Payamps and maybe even Trevor Megill who converted a four out save on Friday night.  I'd also be surprised to see Joe Ross who threw 40 pitches on Friday so the pitching the Mets have to beat today will be far lesser than what they have seen the past two days.

Colin Rea will start here, he's been a fade for me most of the season and that's especially the case when he doesn't follow an opener.  After Rea it's probably DL Hall and, as far as leverage spots are concerned, I think we see Hoby Milner again (who nearly gave up the game on Friday) or potentially back to Aaron Ashby or Nick Mears as both would be further down the list to work on Tuesday.

On the Mets side it's “all hands on deck”, the Mets will need to treat this like an elimination game so I think they throw anyone and everyone here even with the double header tomorrow.  I also like the fact the Mets go with another LHP in David Peterson as the Brewers have been considerably worse against southpaws this year and drawing walks is how the Brewers did the majority of their damage against Manaea and Quintana the past two days.

Maybe I'm a little pot committed after playing this the past two days but I think this is the best spot for the Mets so far in this series.

Play on Mets -117 for 4% (or 4 units)
