Analysis

UNLV is off to a perfect 4-0 start to the season and their first ever AP Top 25 ranking this week. However, despite a pair of wins over Power 4 Conference schools in Kansas and Houston, it must be noted those teams are a combined 2-8 to start the season. They also blew out an FCS opponent in Utah Tech and then last Saturday trounced Fresno State 59-14. That was a Fresno State team that was 3-1 at the time. Nonetheless, Fresno State had benefitted from 3 wins over the like of New Mexico and New Mexico State who are also a combined 2-8 to start the season. The other Fresno State win came over Sacramento State who plays at the FCS level. My point being, they haven't exactly played a strong schedule. I also like to fade teams that enter the AP Top 25 for a first time ever or after a long-time span of not being ranked. Perfect examples of that this year were Northern Illinois and Georgia Tech who both lost their next game after being newly ranked the same week.

Syracuse is fully capable of giving the Rebels all they can handle and then some. The Orange are off to a hot start and have a top-notch quarterback in former Ohio State starter Kyle McCord. McCord is 14-2 in his career starts. McCord has tossed 14 touchdown passes and thrown for a combined 1459 yards in the first 4 games of this season. Syracuse (3-1) will certainly be the toughest opponent that UNLV has seen to date. The Orange already knocked off a then ranked Georgia Tech team in Week 2.

Give me Syracuse plus points.
