Arsenal are coming off a confident 2-0 home win against PSG mid-week in the Champions League, scoring both goals in the first half. They were also 2-0 up at half time against Leicester last week, 2-0 up at half time against Bolton, and 2-1 up at half time on the road against Manchester City. Arsenal are excellent in first halves so far in the season, and especially at home (W5 D0 L0), winning three of 5 by 2 goals and two of 5 with 1 goal. 

Southampton were horrible last weekend against Bournemouth, already 3-0 down at half time. They were losing in all 3 away first halves so far in the season, by 3 goals to Bournemouth, by 1 goal to Brentford and by 1 goal to a 10-man Newcastle in the season opener. They have a bad defense and Arsenal, despite coming off a mid-week match, have the quality to punish them in that first half.
