THE PLAY: New York Mets -115 Max Meyer (RHP), Freddy Peralta (RHP) Must Start

(906) 3% NY METS ML -115

Line good to -130, at -131 it becomes a 2% play

This is a quick revenge spot for the Mets after being swept in Miami last week, and it comes at a time when New York’s offense has gone ice cold. After a 6–1 run, the Mets have stumbled to 2–7 and have been held to two runs or fewer in six of their last seven games, raising serious concerns about their ability to support their pitching staff. Things don’t get any easier against Max Meyer, who has allowed three runs or fewer in 10 of his 11 starts, including five outings in which he’s surrendered zero or one run. Part of Meyer’s early success stems from unfamiliarity, as he’s made only 36 career starts, and I always believe pitchers have the edge the first time they cycle through the league. That said, making back-to-back starts against the same lineup flips some of that advantage, especially with his team just 4–11 in his career road starts. On the other side, Freddy Peralta will be looking for payback after allowing four runs over seven innings in a 4–1 loss to Miami, and he’s been solid overall, holding opponents to three runs or fewer in nine of his 11 starts this season. Historically, Peralta has also thrived in this price range; when he is a home favorite of -150 or less, his team is 30–11, which supports the idea that this is a favorable setup for the Mets to respond at home.
