THE PLAY: Connecticut -7.5 (-110)
You don't mention "revenge" and "UConn Football" in the same sentence very often, but this is a nice spot for the Huskies to get some revenge on the Panthers. Georgia State earned a 35-14 win as a 2.5-point home favorite last season, but the Panthers are on a four-game losing streak heading into their trip to Hartford. This will be Georgia State's third-straight road game (no bye), and the Panthers have taken some lumps this season. With the benefit of some hindsight and context, Georgia State has played a really tough schedule for first-year head coach Dell McGee. Both of the Panthers' bye weeks came before the first week of October, which means they have to close the year with eight-straight games. After this non-conference clash with UConn, Georgia State still has to go to James Madison, Texas State and host Coastal Carolina. If you were going to prioritize your remaining games, this non-conference trip to Connecticut is probably pretty far down on the list. This should be a good opportunity for the Huskies to get some revenge for last year's defeat as the Panthers need to focus on the Sun Belt pecking order. We make this spread closer to UConn -10.
THE PLAY: Total Under 217.5 (-110)
We have some key players on the injury report for both the Pelicans and Warriors tonight. New Pelican DeJounte Murray had hand surgery and is set to miss 4-6 weeks with Trey Murphy III still working his way back from a hamstring injury. Golden State will be without Steph Curry battling an ankle injury, and De’Anthony Melton and Andrew Wiggins are both listed as questionable. Golden State was 3-5 straight-up last season without Curry while averaging 111 points per game. In the Pelicans' first two games without Murray, they averaged just 104 points per game with both games played against the lowly Trailblazers. With Curry out, the Warriors should lean on their defense as Golden State has allowed just 101 points per game and 39-percent shooting thus far (both No. 2 in the NBA). Both teams are sitting top-10 in defensive efficiency on the young season. The Warriors are turning the ball over 17 times per game, which could be an even bigger issue tonight without their leading ball handler.
