THE PLAY: Miami Heat +12.5 (-108)
Cleveland was the best team in the Eastern Conference all season, but interestingly, the Cavs did struggle with both teams that were involved in the 8-seed play-in round (Atlanta beat the Cavs twice in the regular season). Miami got the nod in overtime against the Hawks on Friday as reserve guard Davion Mitchell made some outstanding plays down the stretch. Tyler Herro led the way with 30 points on 5-for-10 shooting from three-point range. Since the beginning of last season, Miami is 4-3 straight-up, 5-2 against the spread in this Eastern Conference matchup. In their last meeting in March, Cleveland earned a 112-107 home win but the Heat stayed within the number as a double-digit road ‘dog. Since March 1, Cleveland has gone 4-7 against the spread as a double-digit favorite. Miami is 7-3 against the spread in its last ten road games. At this time of the year, Erik Spoelstra knows how to push the right buttons. Cleveland may win but it likely won’t be easy.
