THE PLAY: Texas Tech -6.5 (-110)
There are so many great storylines in college basketball right now, and Texas Tech is quietly sliding below the national radar. That's probably the way Grant McCasland would prefer to keep it. The Red Raiders have been dominant on both sides of the ball, and if it hadn't been for some mid-season injuries, Texas Tech would be generating a little more attention for a potential No. 1 seed. Sophomore forward JT Toppin missed the Red Raiders' early-season loss to Texas A&M. Junior forward Darrion Williams missed Texas Tech's most recent loss to Houston in late February. Senior guard Chance McMillian also missed that contest with the Cougars. The Red Raiders are now fully-healthy and firing on all cylinders. Texas Tech closed the regular season with a road win at Kansas, a 16-point home win over Colorado and a 28-point road win at Arizona State. The Red Raiders have won-and-covered the last two meetings with Baylor, including a 73-59 home win in early February. The Bears are coming off a 70-56 win over Kansas State on Wednesday, but where are the impressive wins on Baylor's resume this season? The top five teams in the Big XII this season were Houston, Texas Tech, Arizona, BYU and Iowa State. How did Baylor do against those teams in the regular season? The Bears went 0-7 straight-up, 0-5-2 against the spread. In road and neutral site games, Baylor went 3-11-2 against the spread. Baylor head coach Scott Drew does not have a great history in this event, either. He led the Bears to the conference championship game in 2014. Since then, Baylor has not won multiple games at this event and has been eliminated in the opening game five times. These Lone Star State foes are operating on different tiers this season, and we expect Texas Tech to handle business with relative ease.
